Talking Baby and Mom Kicked Off Plane

Talk about a firestorm in Houston. Kate Penland, the mother of a 19-month-old boy, says she and her son were kicked off a plane after she refused a stewardess' request to medicate her son to keep him from talking.

“As we started taxiing, he started saying ‘Bye, bye plane,’ said Penland. “At the end of her speech, she leaned over the gentleman beside me and said, ‘It’s not funny anymore. You need to shut your baby up.’

In disbelief, Penland asked the woman if she was kidding. It was then, Penland said, the flight attendant went too far.

“She then said, ‘You know, it’s called baby Benadryl. And I said, 'Well, I'm not going to drug my child so you have a pleasant flight.'"

that is crazy. i have been on planes with some unruly kids and they were old enough to know what they were doing. does anyone else find it disturbing how our society views children and moms these days. it's like kids are such a burden instead of the blessing they really are.

CRAZY! So you cannot breastfeed a child to keep them calm (ie the case a few months ago) and now your toddler has to be sedated to fly. Sad. The airline industry has gone way overboard and yet isn't keeping anyone safe by these stupid standards/rules. It's a big joke.

I agree!!! That is completely WRONG! I too have been on flights and things like that have happened to me. My 11 month old at the time was on a 9 hour plane ride, toward the end she got fussy and started to kick the seat in front of her. The older person in front of her turned around and asked me to control my child!! I agree Beth, they are looked at as a burden. They need to do something to that stuardess!!!!!!
