Christmas Gift: Kitchen Set

- The Little Tikes Play Smarter Cook 'N Learn Kitchen for $89.88 at Wal-Mart - it's compact if you are limited on space and it's gender neutral. My son received this kitchen set with its faux granite countertop and faux stainless steel appliances for his second birthday and loves it. It's a little limited on counter and storage space, so I guess it's more like a studio kitchen.
- If you're looking for a wooden kitchen set, try the Just Like Home: Wooden Bistro Kitchen on sale for $109.99 at Toys R Us. It includes a refrigerator, oven, microwave and sink all in one.
- Or check out this wooden set at K-Mart if you have a big play house or lots of room. There are three parts to the My First Kenmore Kitchen: the Oven ($89.99), Refrigerator ($89.99) and Sink ($69.99). It's temporarily out of stock at kmart.com, but may still be available at your local stores. It was in our newspaper insert on Sunday.

The wooden "My First Kenmore" oven at K-mart/Sears stores has ben recalled. I haven't been able to find out why, but they took it out of my lay-a-way because it was recalled. Just wanted to post this (I was actually searching for info on the recall and that led me to your blog) so that everyone who read your blog and may have bought the oven will know. :)

I purchased the complete 3 piece set via Sears on Nov 11th as a Christmas present. Two days ago the oven tipped over on my daughter when she lowered the door..bruising her arm and pulling the back off her earring. It took an email to CR from which I got a 'form letter' back and talking to 5 Sears people (including their National Customer Relations where I filed a report) before finding out about the recall. The only reason I found out was because I called them back today let them know the ball bearings were falling out of the hinge. There is NO info about this on the Sears recall list web page. I found you're blog while trying to find out why it was recalled. I can guarantee it's because of the topple over that happened to my daughter! Sign me as Jeanna in Texas
They actually started selling them again right before Christmas (I got one), but it has updated instructions where you do not use the hinge that goes on the bottom of the oven door (the one that makes it stop at a certain point). So now ours opens all the way to the floor (but the unit won't tip over). So, yes...it was because it tipped over. I hope your daughter is okay.
