Actress Anne Heche, 39, is expecting her first child with boyfriend James Tupper, 43, according to Heche's rep, who tells E! News the couple "are thrilled."

With the holidays approaching, many families will tackle the challenge of flying or driving to their destinations with a toddler. We have a lengthy drive ahead of us in a few weeks and once again we'll count on one of the Technology Gods' brilliant creations: the video iPod.
We used to lug around a portable DVD player, but the ultra-portability of the video iPod makes the whole process much easier. We load several of Jack's favorite shows (Ratatouille, Super Why, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, etc.) and he stays occupied for quite a while.
He also likes to play with our GPS unit, which would explain why our home address is now labeled a rest area.

Before we had our first child, we thought a lot about baby names. We wanted a name that people would know how to spell, but didn't ever want our son to be in a classroom full of kids with the same name. I remember looking on the Social Security Administration web site with each potential winner we came up with, and eliminating suggestions that showed up in the Top 100 -- or ones that seemed to be rising with a bullet.
We thought we were safe, picking Theo (#301 most popular boy's name in 2005) for our older son and Milo (#548 in 2007) for our second baby. I've since been shocked how many Theos -- and even Milos -- that we've run into.

Who Knew that assembling and decorating a gingerbread house (one that's pre-baked and in a box) would be so challenging. I thought it would be a fun project for me and my three year old. The directions say to read through all the directions first, so I skimmed. My eyes focused on, "then wait 1 hour until it dries...then wait 2-3 more hours until it dries." What?? Don't they know that I have an impatient three year old who is ready to decorate it, so he can eat it in like five MINUTES, not five HOURS!
The directions say to make sure all the gingerbread pieces fit together perfectly. If not, you can cut the pieces so they square off perfectly when assembling. I figured I'd just skip this step. I mean how bad could it really be?
Finally, I actually followed the directions. I mixed the icing mix with the appropriate amount of water only to come up with icing that was too thick and burned the motor on my mixer. Oops. Then I added more water to help the consistency of the icing, but it never came out right. In the end, I think it was too watery and that's why Jack's name made with candy on the side of the roof, started sliding down the roof within minutes.
I'm not saying it's a project you shouldn't take on, you should just know what you are getting into before you decide to tackle this project. It's going to be messy. It's going to take five hours to complete. But, it will be fun for your little one to decorate. And it could become a holiday family tradition.
Who Knew that it would be so difficult and time consuming to build a gingerbread house? Well, now you know, so you can be prepared...unlike me.

A Kentucky toddler has recovered completely after having a key lodged into his eye. Nicholas Holderman was just 17 months old on Sept. 2 when he fell onto a key to his parents' car. The key pierced his eyelid and went through his eye into his brain.

Ever think about your child suffocating on an outlet cover? That was almost a terrible reality for George Decell. A few years ago his daughter found a standard-sized outlet safety plug on the edge of the table.
"She put the device into her mouth, it lodged in her throat and she nearly suffocated," Decell told BBA in an e-mail. "I invented SafetyCaps to ensure that this would not happen to another child."
Decell says SafetyCaps are wider and ventilated using U.S. pacifier anti-choking regulations.
"To date, more than 40 hospitals have written to the CPSC asking them to regulate these devices," Decell said. "The CPSC said that not enough kids have been hurt by these devices so the aren't willing to regulate them. Would you rather have a reactive CPSC or a proactive CPSC?"
What faltering economy? Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and her husband Pete Wentz could be the latest Hollywood celebs to benefit from selling their baby pictures. A celebrity publicist says they could land a sum somewhere in the low seven figures.
"Two million seems like a good, solid figure for Ashlee and Pete," said celebrity publicist Howard Bragman. "It's a two-celeb couple, so that's a boost for them."
While the pictures are gravy for magazines, some ethicists and child psychologists are disturbed by the practice, which treads the nexus of money, parenthood and fame.
"If your own parents are literally selling you out, where can one feel safe?" asked Bruce Weinstein, a syndicated ethics columnist. "What's especially troubling is that the person who's the subject of these photos isn't able to give informed consent. I could imagine that person being really troubled by it."

I went through Hope's closet to gather things to pass on some things. I had piled all of her shoes that were too small on her bed. She asked why they were on her bed, and I said that they were too little for her, so it was time to give away. She started fussing saying they DID still fit her. She struggled to get one on her foot (picture Cinderella's step-sisters trying to get the slipper to fit!) She finally got her foot in and said "SEE it does fit. Oooouch!"
