Blog: Your Baby Is Off the Charts!

The Poop: What is it about baby percentiles that can turn parents and grandparents into obsessive braggarts (or is it just me)? Do percentile reports at the doctor's office leave you feeling validated -- or not -- as a parent?

I always have to find out what percentage my kids are in. Our pediatrician gives out sheets with the info on it, and if they forget to give us one, I make sure to ask for it.

I wasn't too obsessed about it until my daughter started dropping dramatically in her weight percentile... fell from 50th to off the chart... but for the last year she's stayed 1st to 3rd, so I feel ok again. The percentile itself doesn't mean too much, it's sudden changes that are red flags. That's why it's good to keep track.
