Salma Hayek Breastfeeds Another Woman's Baby

Got milk? Salma Hayek does - and she's happy to share.

The sultry "Frida" actress breastfed another woman's baby during a trip to Sierra Leone in front of "Nightline" cameras. Hayek, 42, discovered the child, who's mother was unable to produce milk, during a tour of a hospital in the war-torn country.

"The baby was perfectly healthy, but the mother did not have any milk," she later recalled to USA Today. "He was very hungry - I was weaning my daughter Valentina, but I still had a lot of milk, so I breastfed the baby." (New York Daily News)

I watched a long clip on abcnews.com earlier today and just teared up! There's more to the story than just nursing another woman's baby. What Pamper's and UNICEF are doing is an amazing act and it's been going on longer than just this recent news clip. When my 3 y/o was an infant/early toddler, I'd find the UNICEF marked pampers. They are preventing the deaths of many babies by providing vaccines to women and children. And the act of breastfeeding that starving infant is such an emotional sight! I cannot imagine how grateful I'd feel, if I had a starving baby and no milk to give him and someone nursed him. Not only was the act a beautiful act of humanity... but it also shows how nursing in public is not indecent. So many messages in one little clip.
