Baby Shower Gifts

In the past, we've highlighted a few items on BBA that would be practical or unique baby shower gifts like the Pee-Pee Tee Pee (unique...I'm not sure how practical).

We'd love for you to share your favorite baby shower gift and let us know if you were expecting a baby boy, girl or didn't know. Just post your favorites in the comments here and help others (like BBA reader Laura) who are shopping for baby shower gifts.

I loved anything monogrammed.

My most pratical gift given to me was a HUGE crock pot at one of my baby showers!

a tie between our baby bjorn and our stroller for most used (for both babies). A favorite was a handmade star book of nursery rhymes. It is really a beautiful book that Libby will get to see when she's older. I'm afraid she's pull to bits right now. ;)

My best advice is to STICK TO THEIR REGISTRY! I liked a few of the unique items I got, but I really NEEDED bottles, blankets, pacifiers, sheets, etc.! I didn't need a cute baby frame.

I agree on shopping from the registry. I had way too many cute hooded towels and didn't get all the necessities I needed. It may not be that fun or cute, but if the parents registered for gifts, it's because those are things they wanted.

I usually try and tie in a cute item with a registery item. I've done closet totes (Target for cheap in the closet organizer section) with bath necessities. I've also basket with bottles for baby and bottles of wine for mom. I personally loved my diaper caddy (pottery barn) that was stocked with newborn diapers, diaper cream, wipes, etc.

I just had my baby shower last week and received the most unique gift - a custom mady canopy for the bugaboo I had purchased. I bought a red base and the canopy is in vibrant funky colors. The company is called bonnebonnets, I just checked their website (www.bonnebonnets.com) and they have other very cool patterns and prints. Definitely the best baby gift so far!

Oh, but for a good friend, I think a maternity massage is a great gift. You know you'll get something for the baby when (s)he arrives, and mom will definitely appreciate the massage. I loved mine!

ditto the massage .. or better yet, FOOD! One close friend who took great care of me after having Libby and my mom had headed home had her first after we both had moved in opposite directions from where we met. So I found a take out service who went to a number of restaurants in her area and would deliver them to her house. Nothin' like a gc for food. Great for the person with no family in town. Her family couldn't get there for the birth and her hubby isn't much of a cook (not to mention, the new daddy is usually tired too)... so this was just what the sleep deprived new parents needed.

My favorite gift was The Ultimate Crib Sheet. It lays on top of your mattress and secures on to the rails of the baby crib. If your baby spits up in the middle of the night, it takes 10 seconds to fix the situation without having to untie the bumpers, lift the mattress to get the sheet off, put a new sheet on, try not to mess up the dust ruffle underneath, etc. Although it's a great gift, I really think you need to go through a couple of those "middle of the night sheet changes" before you can truly appreciate it.

a good friend gave me a gift card to our favorite take-out place near-by-- so after my mom left and the frozen food i'd stocked-up were gone, my husband could run by on the way home and pick-up dinner. Since she doesn't live near-by and couldn't bring dinner over herself, this was a great idea.

hi!
I'm French and we don't have baby showers here. usually people give you presents after the birth of the baby. Wich is great to, but you never get to make a list though. So usually you end up with far too many 3 months clothes and none in 1 year for ex.
but honestly, the cutest thing I had was that someone bought me (!) a present, not to the baby. that was so cute !

I feel the best place to shop for gifts is dryseasonbaby.com the clothes are handmade cute and are hard to find at any other store.
