Fertility Treatments: Clomid

On our forum millersmommy asks, "just wondering if any of you used clomid to conceive your children. if so, how many months did it take and did you get multiples? i'm about to start using it in the next month or so and was just wondering."

Do you have an experience you want to share with millersmommy on the Baby Blog Addict forum? I'm sure she would appreciate all of the support you can give.

According to about.com, Clomid is often the first fertility drug that couples come in contact with. It is (relatively) inexpensive as fertility drugs go, is easily taken (orally rather than by injection) and is the first line drug used for ovulation induction in patients with PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) and other ovulatory disorders.

I have been taking 50 mg of clomid for the past 4 months. Granted only 2 of those months did we try to get pregnant as the first month was a trial run and the 3rd month the timing was off as we are using donor sperm. I am 6 days away from testing to see if the 4th time worked! Hopefully it did and we are pregnant. I would def research it before taking it as there are quite a few side affects such as mood swings, hot flashes, and appetite variances. As a woman with PCOS and a lesbian, taking clomid is our first step in trying to have a family.
